The NBA’s Eastern Conference Semifinals hit South Philadelphia for Game 6 of this heated series between bitter rivals the Boston Celtics and our Philadelphia 76’ers. After a dominating performance in Game 5 in Boston, the Sixers had the series in their favor 3-2 heading into the Wells Fargo Center last night. The excitement was palpable! I have been lucky enough to attend some pivotal games in Philly sports history (Eagles/Vikings in 2017 & Phillies/Rays in 2008 etc.) and last night was among the loudest I have ever heard ‘The Big Joint’ for a sporting event, especially when the Sixers took the lead in the second half. Everyone in the place was going bonkers!
The eventual outcome was not what the Philly faithful were hoping for, with the Sixers falling to the Celtics 95-86. But the series is not over yet! The Sixers head to Boston for a do-or-die Game 7 at the TD Garden in Boston this Sunday. Game 7 of Celtics vs. 76’ers will either tip off at 3:30 pm. or 8 pm. The start time will depend on if the Lakers/Warriors go to a seventh game as well. If the Lakers/Warriors do have a Game 7, the Celtics/76’ers will start at 8pm. If the Lakers close the Warriors out tonight preventing a Game 7, Boston and Philadelphia will play at 3:30 pm.
If the Sixers win, it will be their first Eastern Conference Championship appearance since 2000. The winner of 76’ers/Celtics will play the winner of the Miami Heat vs. New York Knicks match-up – Heat lead the series 3-2, with Game 6 tonight (Friday) in Miami at 7:30pm.
GO SIXERS!!
