This Tweet Perfectly Sums Up How Philly Fans Feel Today
We won, but at what cost?
The Eagles are 8-0 for the first time in franchise history. That’s where they are now after beating the Houston Texans 29-14 at NRG Stadium last night, with a second-half surge that saw Jalen Hurts throw two touchdown passes, the defense intercept two passes, and Javon Hargrave collect two of his career-high three sacks.
But this landmark achievement came on a strange night. A night where another beloved Philly team was 1,500 miles away in Philadelphia playing ANOTHER Houston team. A night where the Phillies just couldn’t seem to find the magic. Houston’s Justin Verlander held on for a Game 5 win Thursday, as the Astros defeated the Phillies 3-2. This Tweet sums up our feelings perfectly.

The series now sits at 3-2, with the Phils finding themselves behind by one game, and it’s hard to keep the faith. Philadelphians hoped to see our underdog baseball team bring the pennant home at Citizen’s Bank Park, but now the two teams are headed to Houston. The Phillies are notoriously better at home the on the road, so naturally we find ourselves with little hope left.
We love our Eagles, and we’re so happy they’re crushing the NFL with their undefeated record this season, but to come this close to victory in the World Series and have it threatened, frankly, really sucks. It was already tough enough having to juggle two games at the exact same time, but to have one team lose and another win is like being a parent with two children in the same competition. You want to celebrate the winning child, but there is also a losing kid that you need to console.
All hope is not lost, though. There are two games left in the series. The Phillies could pull-off one of the biggest upsets in history in Games 6 and 7 in Houston and take home the whole dang thing. Believe, Philly. Believe!
