Santana Documentary To Hold Exclusive Premiers in Philadelphia
Carlos Santana will become the latest popular musician to hit the big screen. Rudy Valdez has directed a feature-length documentary film CARLOS: The Santana Journey.
It will premier to the public on Friday, September 29. However, some lucky Santana fans will get the opportunity to see exclusive local showings on September 23, 24, and 27.
Carlos Santana Documentary
Valdez certainly chose a worthy focus for the documentary. Carlos Santana led his group Santana into the height of their success in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The band synergized Rock & Roll with a Latin American sound. The blend was something that hadn’t been done before in either genre.
Santana has released 26 studio albums. Abraxas in 1970 included hits like “Black Magic Woman” and “Oye Coma Va” that helped the band gain popularity.
The documentary will celebrate the career of the 10-time Grammy winner and global sensation. It will detail his roots and the climb to success in the music industry.
Valdez is a two-time Grammy winner. Ron Howard and Brian Grazer were also the Executive Producers of the documentary.
Exclusive Premier Events
Sony Picture Classics and Trafalgar Releasing announced the plan on August 25 for the premier events. Fans in the Philadelphia area will have the opportunity to win tickets to see CARLOS: The Santana Journey at select shows before the official release.
Local theaters that will show the sneak-peak of the documentary include the Landmark Ritz on Walnut Street and the Regal IMAX in King of Prussia. The range of theaters extends into South Jersey.
The premiers will also include exclusive introductory content from Santana and Valdez that take viewers behind the scenes of the documentary and the life of Carlos Santana.
