John McKeever Confirms ‘Tires’ Picked Up For Another Season
John McKeever stopped by The Preston & Steve Show to promote his groundbreaking new series, “Tires” streaming now exclusively on Netflix starring Shane Gillis and Steve Gerben. In the comedy series, Gerben’s character, Will, attempts to revitalize his struggling auto business, Valley Forge Automotive Center, while attempting to handle his troublesome yet endearing cousin, Shane who recently began working at the shop. The titular auto shop, which served as the set for the show was, believe it or not, filmed not that far outside of the Philadelphia area in the busy, yet charming town of West Chester.
As a West Chester native, it was cool seeing familiar places in the background of shots including McDonalds, Parkway Cleaners, and Dairy Queen. The usual places your typical college group might head to on a Friday or Saturday night…well maybe not Parkway Cleaners. These are places I drive by frequently and was hoping to see my car in the background of a shot on the 6-episode Netflix series.
McKeever confirmed that “Tires” has been renewed for a second season, which is a testament to its anticipated success. The next season expects to be around 12 episodes which McKeever states that filming is slated to begin in the fall and be ready to release around this time next year–giving viewers a fun, and not to mention funny, show to kick off summer vacations, and the season.
When asked about the process of writing a script for an improv comedy show, McKeever explained how despite the nature of improv comedy, the show still strives to follow a script, and give everyone flexibility to infuse their unique style of improv. As a result, it sounds like the team has a bit of adaptability and will continue to display that as they begin to film season two.
