Motley Crue Arrive at Troubadour Gig in a Garbage Truck
The guys of Motley Crue don’t do anything small, and that includes kicking off their small venue tour this week. Sure, they’re playing small clubs on their “White Trash Circus” tour, going back to their roots on the Sunset Strip, but they had to make a big entrance by arriving at Los Angeles’ popular Troubadour venue in the back of a garbage truck.
The rockers posted a new video on their social media showing the guys getting out of the back of the vehicle and being met by a large audience on Santa Monica Boulevard before their show at the 500-capacity venue. The video shows the trash having some very Motley Crue-appropriate items: a mattress, bra, heels and trash bags. You can view the video below.
Motley Crue Take Over Hollywood
Motley Crue’s Troubadour performance was the first show of their “Hollywood Takeover” tour, taking them back to their Los Angeles and Hollywood club roots. They tour will continue on Wednesday (Oct. 9) at the Roxy and close out on Friday (Oct. 11) at the Whisky a Go Go. Expect to hear lots of hits, as the playlist for the first show of the mini-tour featured classics such as “Kickstart My Heart,” “Shout at the Devil” and “Primal Scream.”
Motley Crue also played some new songs in recent single “Dogs of War” and a cover of Beastie Boys’ “Fight for Your Right,” both of which appear on the band’s new Cancelled EP.
Regarding the EP, the Crue said in a joint statement, “It was really great getting in the studio and working on some tracks together. What started out as a couple demo ideas turned into this EP produced by Bob Rock. We look forward to getting back into the studio again soon and writing more new music, as well.”
Tommy Lee first talked about the title track of the album, “Cancelled,” in October 2023 during an appearance on Club Random with Bill Maher.
“We just recorded a song called ‘Canceled’ because we were just inspired by the rest of the world and things and places, like anybody else,” he said on the show. Lee also said the guys were inspired to write the song after coming seeing an article questioning how the band was never “cancelled.” Lee also joked that because the Crue was never really canceled, it makes him want to try to get canceled.
