SEPTA Adds Train Service, Free Rides for Eagles NFC Championship Game

Extra trains will run on the Broad Street Line for the Eagles vs Commanders NFC Championship game on January 26.

Trains will leave Fern Rock Transit Center every 10 minutes from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. After halftime, passengers can ride for free during the three hours following the game.

You can transfer for free to the Broad Street Line from Market-Frankford trains or trolleys at 15th Street/City Hall. If you'd rather skip the train, buses 4 and 17 will take you right to the stadium.

Paying for your ride is now easier than ever. Just tap your card or phone - credit, debit, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay all work throughout the system.

Adding extra service for big events is nothing new. Previous Eagles games have seen packed trains full of fans heading to the stadium.

NRG Station is right next to Lincoln Financial Field's entrance. This Broad Street Line stop has been getting fans to Eagles home games for years.

Your best bet is checking the app first. You'll know the quickest way to get to the Eagles vs Commanders game and avoid any surprises.

If you're lucky enough to land tickets, there are things you need to know before going to a Philadelphia Eagles game.

A home game starts with a ride to the stadium, whether it’s in a car or on Septa. It includes the tailgate, the game itself, and the camaraderie of over 67,000 of your best friends in Philadelphia.

Lincoln Financial Field opened in 2003. It quickly became a staple of the South Philadelphia sports complex when it replaced the old Veterans Stadium.

The gameday experience at the Linc is one of the best of any NFL stadium. The Eagles have played 20 seasons there. The building has hosted four NFC Championship Games, and the Eagles have clinched all three of their Super Bowl appearances during that time span at home.

They are also 8-4 in the 12 playoff games in the Linc’s history. From the 4th & 26 game against the Packers to the unforgettable victory over the Vikings to clinch a spot in Super Bowl LII to last season’s slaughter of the 49ers, Eagles fans have their share of memories at the Linc.

A gameday experience includes more than just the game. Swoop, the cheerleaders, the food and drinks, and the whole atmosphere of the stadium also make an Eagles game an excellent experience.

Whether it's your first or your 100th trip down to the Linc, things are always changing at the stadium.

It’s not always a no-brainer. You’ll have your Eagles gear on, but make sure a jacket, a hat, or any other clothes you wear don’t rep the visiting colors. Also, just completely avoid wearing any Dallas Cowboys gear.

Most lots surrounding the sports complex open 4.5 hours before kickoff on Eagles gamedays. Make sure you know which lots permit tailgating and which ones don’t. Visit K Lot or Jetro for the best party scenes! If you’d rather take public transportation to the game, NRG Station is the terminal stop on the Broad Street Line (Orange Line). It lets riders out at Broad Street and Pattison Avenue, about three blocks from the Linc.

The Pepsi Plaza usually opens three hours before home games for the first arrivals, and the other gates follow. An early arrival at the gate means less of a crowd to move through to work your way through security, grab some food and a drink, and get settled in your seats.

Limit what you bring into the stadium to make the screening process simpler. The Linc allows clear bags 12 x 6 x 12 or smaller inside. Fans can’t bring larger purses or bags besides small wallets into the game. Try to address any questions about bags before you get to the game.

Eagles tickets are now completely digital. For the easiest method, have your digital tickets accessible on a smartphone at the gate on gamedays. Make sure that phone is charged and ready to go.

Most games start at 1 pm on Sundays. As scheduled now, they have 6 games that are 1 pm starts. But the Eagles do have a lot of Primetime games this season, including the home opener that takes place on a Monday Night. Game times can also be flexed, so if you bought ahead of time, still double-check the week of in case they were moved to 4, or even flexed to a prime-time game.

Check the weather. The NFL regular season starts in September and ends in the early part of January. Philadelphia also expects another deep playoff run. You’ll need to know whether to wear your current midnight green t-shirt or that retro Kelly Green jacket you bought.

You could go with a cheesesteak, and crab fries from Chickie’s and Pete's should be on the table. There are plenty of options at the Linc. Many fans will be interested in a cold drink too.

Sometimes, the Eagles will give away rally towels or other items to all fans. They also honor a military veteran as a “Hometown Hero” every game. You might even see a flyover during the National Anthem if you’re lucky.
