Foo Fighters Pull Fun ‘Prank’ with Wolfgang Van Halen
Foo Fighters had a headlining set at the festival Welcome to Rockville on Saturday (May 11), and the band pulled a fun “prank” on the crowd with help from Wolfgang Van Halen.
During the set, Dave Grohl playfully lamented how “I never get to f—ing solo,” like his fellow Foos. So, what does the two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Famer do? He takes on one of the most iconic guitar solos of all time: Eddie Van Halen’s “Eruption.”
There’s just one thing, though: When Grohl launched into the solo, he really wasn’t playing it. Offstage, WVH was actually playing his late father’s legendary solo while Grohl just pantomimed.
Grohl, in on the joke, said, “Dude, I told you to keep that cool Wolfie, what the f— you doing right now?” The frontman then introed “My Hero” by saying, “Since Wolfie took all that f—ing time to pull off that joke with us, I’m gonna dedicate this one to him. Let’s sing this one for him, and let’s sing this one for his f—ing dad, too.”
Foo Fighters Tour Scheduled for 2024
The Foos are keeping themselves very busy this summer with a mix of festival and headlining tour dates. In June, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band will head to the U.K. for a series of shows, followed by festival sets in Europe.
Then, the Foos will return to the United States for a stadium tour beginning on July 17 at Citi Field in New York. A full list of the band’s tour dates is below.
