Haunted Bridges Are All Over the State Believe it or not, Pennsylvania is home to several haunted bridges. One of the most famous is the Sullivan’s Bridge in Gettysburg, where it is said that the spirits of soldiers from the Civil War roam. Some claim to hear the sounds of marching footsteps and whispers, while others report seeing ghostly figures appear and disappear near the bridge at night. Another notorious location is the Fayette County's Green Man's Bridge, named after a local legend about a man who was disfigured in an accident and now roams the area seeking revenge. The eerie green glow often reported near the bridge adds to its spooky reputation. Bucks County Has The Most Haunted Bridge Believe it or not, there are 12 bridges in Bucks County, but there's one that is believed to be haunted. The Van Sant Bridge, or 'Cry Baby Bridge,' is located in New Hope and was built in 1875. The spooky tale says a distraught woman allegedly threw her baby off the bridge before taking her own life. Talk about tragic! Visitors often report eerie nighttime sounds, attributed to either local wildlife or ghostly happenings. Baker’s Bridge in Bucks County is also famous for its hauntings. Stories suggest the ghost of a woman who was tragically killed in an accident haunts the bridge, often appearing to travelers at night, particularly those passing under the bridge. Can you say spooky? Many other bridges across the state, such as St. Peter’s Village Bridge over French Creek in Chester County and Jacks Mountain Bridge, which is in Fairfield, PA (close to Gettysburg), also have tales of mysterious events, from strange lights to eerie ghost sightings!
