Code Orange have been shattering eardrums with boundary-pushing metal for many years now, but over the course of the pandemic their profile has grown exponentially. Their Grammy-nominated album Underneath came out came out same the week that lockdown took hold in the States, and while other bands kept quiet during quarantine, the self-proclaimed “thinners of the herd” came roaring through screens with dazzling livestreams and 3D visuals that kept them at the forefront of modern metal.
Sara sat down with Jami Morgan backstage at Knotfest Roadshow to talk about the trajectory of Code Orange since Underneath was released and what’s on the horizon for the group. They also touched on the band’s relationships with Slipknot and the WWE, designing everything from merch to stage props to music videos, and why loyalty and authenticity are integral to the band’s survival.
