Shinedown Heat Things Up with a New Hot Sauce [Interview]

Shinedown are known for bringing the heat in their pyro-heavy live performances, and now they’re heating things up in a different way: with a brand new hot sauce.

The band is collaborating with Torchbearer Sauces to create Symptom Chipotle Garlic Sauce, a nod to their song “A Symptom of Being Human.” In contrast to that beautiful ballad, this fiery condiment will get your blood pumping, though it’s not too overwhelming on the palate. Torchbearer describes it as an “amazingly garlic-forward, smokey and spicy treat is sure to take the world by storm… This really is such a great flavor that it will probably work with just about anything, and the heat isn’t overpowering either. As humans ourselves, we all agree that this is one of the better ‘Symptoms’ of being one.”

In an interview with WMMR’s Brent Porche, which you can watch below, Shinedown drummer Barry Kerch said that they took great care to develop a sauce that their fans would love. He explains: “We went through different versions where the flavor profile was kind of already there, but do we want it a little thicker? Do we want it more airy? All these kinds of things that you don’t really think about when it’s just a simple condiment, right? But we really wanted it to be something special, to put our name on it. So it was a lot of fun to do.”

So what does Barry like to put the Symptom sauce on? “Oysters, one of my favorite things!”

And what does Brent Porche like to slather it onto? He tried out a bottle on a few different things…

In the interview, Brent and Barry also talked about recipes that he and the band curated to go with this devilish dressing, and we’re told that a couple more varieties are already in the works. Barry also says that new music from Shinedown is imminent…
