Her Story With Kathy Romano

In the early morning hours of Monday 6, 2024, Preston & Steve Show listeners lined up outside area hair salons. Upon closer inspection, you might notice that they all had one thing in common about their appearance: long ponytails – 14 inches or longer – prepped and ready to be chopped off!

It was the 15th annual Kathy’s Cuts created by Kathy Romano. The 93.3 WMMR morning show co-host hosted the first event in 2008. The idea came from a conversation with her hair stylist about wanting to cut her long hair, but finding a way to help someone as well.

Since that simple idea was born, Kathy’s Cuts has donated hundreds of ponytails to Wigs For Kids.

For this year’s event, three generous hair salons opened several hours before normal business time to host the event live during The Preston & Steve Show. Stylists donated their time to provide a free cut and style for all donors. Gravity Hair Salon Ambler who has been part of this event since day one, VIBE Salon in Mount Laurel and David Arnold Salon in Jenkintown.

TruBeauty Concepts thanked all the donors with a thank you gift filled with full size beauty products. Everyone also received a commentative Kathy’s Cuts t-shirt plus breakfast provided by Dunkin‘.

Kathy’s Cuts 2024 collected 88 hair donations for Wigs For Kids. There were also monetary donations including $500 from Mt Laurel Fire Department, $60 from Jeff Beckendorf donated at VIBE Salon and $420 collected at Gravity Hair Salon.
