Incredible! There have been a few times this year that I was truly wowed by a performance and the ‘MMR concert event with Måneskin was truly a night to remember. The buzz around this band has been at a fever pitch for some time now and the Italian Rock & Glam Tornado finally made its way to Philadelphia for two sold out nights, at the Fillmore in Fishtown, part of the “Loud Kids Gets Louder Tour”.
This is the first time the band has played Philadelphia and they sold out the 2500+ capacity venue to the rafters both nights… with no opener. I knew a few of their songs going into the night, including their smash hits “Supermodel” – which we’re currently rockin’ on MMR & “Beggin’” – the Four Seasons cover, which is also a massive fan favorite. The sixteen-song set included the radio hits and a whole bunch of songs I have never heard before… and I’ve gotta say, I loved every single one of them! I have heard a few people that have seen them before say that Måneskin reminds them of “The Struts on steroids”… and, in some instances, I can see that. Måneskin very much rocks… and rocks hard! Throw in some glam, some sass and mix it with a whole lot of Italian swagger and you’ve got one of the hottest bands on the planet right now and the future is looking extremely bright.
Half the songs in the set were in Italian and the crowd knew and sung to the top of their lungs every last word. The fans ranged in age from 7 to 70 too! I loved seeing the older heads rockin’ out just as hard side-by-side with the younger bucks all over the Fillmore. The band had a lot of love for Philly and was having just as much fun as the crowd was… in fact, each member of the band at one point or another and sometimes more than once, came out to the crowd to join the party. The band sure does love to crowd-surf!
Very much looking forward to what Måneskin has in store for us in 2023 – including their brand-new studio album ‘Rush!’ due out on January 20th via Arista Records and Sony Music. I picked up this limited edition 7” of their singles ‘Supermodel’ and a Live version of ‘Beggin’ – way cool.
Overall, had a TON of fun and would totally recommend – 10/10 for sure! #IYKYK
