  • Camp Out For Hunger 2023, Day #5

Friday brought BIG DONATION ENERGY! It kicked off with a visit from Subaru who always blows us away with their participation. Comcast surprised us with the totals from in store collections, employee collections and a donation from the company. Pepsi, who kept us hydrated all week, brought by a generous donation as did our hosts for the week, Xfinity Live. Traditions were continued with visits from Froggy, Dr. Mike and the one and only, Jacky Bam Bam.

  • Camp Out For Hunger 2023, Day #4

Day #4  of Camp Out For Hunger kicked off with WWE star and Philly guy, Drew Gulak, bringing the HEAT! We pinned him against Nick McIlwain on the Campbell’s Chunky Soup Can Drop for an old fashioned faceoff. Goodman Fiske had the entire tent on their feet. Senator Chris Coons came by with an early holiday gift – no more political ads (for a while at least!). Jeopardy Tournament of Champions competitor, Ryan Long, send the entire tent into tears playing Trombone Champ. Generous donations from WSFS, GBCA, Mass Mutual, and Courtyard by Marriott Navy Yard kept the totals growing. We met Cuppy, the Dunkin mascot who brought with them 1,000lbs of coffee to donate. And Campbell’s Chunky Soup gave 100,000lbs of soup for Camp Out.

But  after all that, the highlight of the morning was our unexpected meet cute between Michael Giacchino and Zack Snyder. They crossed universes on our show. Something big is going to come of this, we know it!

  • Camp Out For Hunger 2023, Day #3

On Day #3 of 2022 Camp Out For Hunger, we welcomed friends from FOP, Planet Fitness, Five Below, and Live! Casino to the stage with a donation. Victory Beer sponsored our City 6  Pop-a-Shot Challenge which was hosted this year by Sixers radio announcer, Tom Mcginnis. Five coaches were on hand to comepete, Zach Spiker (Drexel), Marc Macon (Temple), Fran Dunphy (LaSalle), Kyle Neptune (Villanova) and reigning champ, John Griffin (St. Joe’s). Steve Donahue (UPenn) was stuck in traffic – ahhh, well! The band, Starcrawler, rocked the stage. Dr. Watlington, Superintendent of Philadelphia Schools reiterated the importance of Camp Out for a (way too big) percentage of his students. On top of sponsoring our gigantic tent, Bimbo Bakeries added a big donation to the tally and snacks for everyone who comes down to donate. We put a bunch of listeners on a the Skelly’s Amusement ride, Pirate Ship, with beer helmets. And finally, we were joined by Hassan Reddick,  a Philly guy on your 8-0 Philadelphia Eagles.

  • Camp Out For Hunger 2023, Day #2

Day 2 of Camp out For Hunger 2022 started with a bang! A $50,000 donation from QVC floored us all. Then we actually hit the floor over and over again in The Meltdown ride from Bette’s Party Rentals. More generous donations from Philly Pretzel Factory, Stauffer Glove & Safety, Tito’s Vodka and Smart Arches. The return of Jim Jackson and his mustache, plus a fun announcement from the Flyers Charities. Our longtime friend, G. Love jammed with the house band, Jamison, and sent Love From (South) Philly.  Then we talked shift with Charlie Manual.

  • Camp Out For Hunger 2023, Day #1

Day 1 of Camp out For Hunger 2022 had Robert Irvine with a surprise $10,000 donation. Michael Barkann brought his positivity about the Philly Sports scene (GO BIRDS!), Loree Jones reminded us how important the collection is for Philabundance this year, and PHL 17’s Delco Duo, Jenna Meissner and Monica Cryan represented. Our friends at Tyson Foods, Key Bank, Endless Pools, Penn Beer and Families Behind The Badge each brought by very generous donations. Plus Jeff Walton announced totals from yesterday’s Phil-A-Trunk food drive and car show and ACME Markets revealed that you have donated $500,000+ at the register so far!

And the Camp Out For Hunger 25th Anniversary Y100 Reunion was all that and a bag of chips.
