The Philadelphia Eagles faced their former star quarterback in a different uniform on Sunday. The talk all week leading up the road matchup against the Washington Commanders centered around Carson Wentz, who was traded away from the Eagles in January 2021.

The unexpected change came after a disappointing season filled with drama in Philadelphia in 2020.

Wentz’s replacement Jalen Hurts is making the Eagles look like geniuses for their decision to move on. The team is riding high as the only NFC with an undefeated record three games into the 2022 season.

It was the Eagles’ defensive front who truly provided the heroics on Sunday, however. They dished out a beating to the once-heralded Carson Wentz with nine sacks on Sunday afternoon, their most in a game since 2019.

Relive the glorious grudge match like Principal Rooney would, counting all NINE TIMES.

  • Fletcher Cox/Josh Sweat

Two of Carson Wentz’s former teammates combined for the first sack to get thing started on Washington’s first possession.

  • Fletcher Cox (Again!)

Fletcher Cox and Carson Wentz still keep a close friendship even after their time as teammates has come to an end. Cox wasn’t exactly showing mercy when he hammered his old buddy once again on Washington’s second possession.

  • Javon Hargrave

When Javon “The Grave Digger” Hargrave buried Wentz on the very next play, a sea of Eagles fans who made the trip to Landover, MD got the feeling it was going to be a great day.

  • Brandon Graham/Haason Reddick

Whether it was from a newcomer like Haason Reddick or from his long-time teammate Brandon Graham, Wentz felt the pressure all afternoon.

  • Brandon Graham Strip Sack

Carson Wentz fumbled for the first time yesterday when Graham chased him down in the second quarter to set up the Eagles in great position for their first touchdown. We’ve seen Graham get a strip sack before…

  • Haason Reddick

Camden, NJ native and Temple University product Haason Reddick broke out for his first big game with the Eagles.

  • Brandon Graham

Fan favorite Brandon Graham wasn’t satisfied yet.

  • Josh Sweat

The always clever Josh Sweat wipes of his forehead after another tough hit.
