Godsmack is well known for their massive pyrotechnics during their live shows, and they certainly brought the heat to Camden and the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion.

Sully and the boys of Godsmack brought their “Best of Times World Tour” back to Camden at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion for part 2. It was to make up for the thunder and lightning shortened show over the summer. This time, they brought fellow Boston-area rockers Extreme with them in support.

It was exactly three months to the day that Godsmack was in town with Staind on the Camden Waterfront as part of an ‘MMR concert event. The weather as beautiful, and it felt like it still could have been summertime and not the tail end of October.

The members of Extreme and Godsmack were just as pumped to be back in the Philadelphia area as the crowd was happy to have them.

Godsmack and Extreme

It was my very first time seeing Extreme live, and they certainly exceeded all expectations. They are ouring in support of their brand-new album SIX. They rocked the house with several new, rocking tunes and crowd favorites like “Get the Funk Out,” “More Than Words,” and a rippin’ cover of James Brown’s “Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine.”

Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt is a national treasure and one of the absolute best guitarists alive today. During Extreme’s rendition of “Cupid’s Dead,” Nuno played a good bit of Van Halen’s “Eruption.” It gave me mega chills!

After a brief audience welcome from yours truly, Godsmack hit the stage swinging for the fences.

Sully exclaimed “Welcome back Camden!” and boom, they jumped right into their hits-packed set. They are touring in support of their eighth studio album Lighting Up the Sky, which was released earlier this year via BMG. Sully and the boys tapped into the new record several times.

However, surprisingly, they did not play their current single, which WMMR is playing, “Soul on Fire.”

Towards the end of Godsmack’s set, on the final night of their tour, Sully introduced the members of Extreme. They came back to the stage for a rousing rendition of AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell.” The cover had everyone in the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion and out on the lawn going bananas! Check out the full video below.

Sully also mentioned that Godsmack will be back out on the road beginning in February of 2024. Hopefully there will be a Philadelphia/Jersey ‘MMR concert event in there somewhere.

It was great to see so many concert goers in amazing costumes! Congratulations to everyone who won pit tickets and VIP pass upgrades from WMMR & Live Nation!

It was well worth the wait, and as ALWAYS, Godsmack brought the fire and intensity that they’ve been known for for 25 years now! And we are certainly excited to see what the fellas have in store in 2024!

  • Godsmack and Extreme... in Soft Pretzels!

Godsmack and Extreme spelled out in Philadelphia Soft Pretzels backstage at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion.

The great folks at Live Nation have been doing this for a couple of years now, welcoming their artists to the Philadelphia area by spelling the performers names out in, what else, but Philly Soft Pretzels! Someone playfully changed some of the letters around, it wasn’t me, or was it?
