Happy Birthday to Adam Gontier! The Saint Asonia frontman was born May 25th, 1978, in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. Best known as the former lead singer, rhythm guitarist, and co-founder of Canadian rockers Three Days Grace, Gontier is now fronting and playing rhythm guitar for the rock supergroup Saint Asonia.
Gontier has been praised for his powerful and versatile vocals, and his songwriting has been credited with helping to shape the sound of Three Days Grace. He has worked with several other artists including Apocalyptica, Art of Dying, Skillet and more.
Gontier released four studio albums with Three Days Grace including the most recent being 2012’s ‘Transit of Venus’. 3DG hit the road on the ‘Transit of Venus’ Tour which had a stop in Philadelphia on October 23rd, 2012 at the Theatre of Living Arts (TLA) on South St. I hosted the evening as the TLA was sold out to the rafters on what would ultimately be the last time we would see Gontier perform with Three Days Grace in Philly since then. Below are some never before seen photos and a video of their song “Home” from that amazing night.
For the first time in over 10 years, Gontier joined his former bandmates in Three Days Grace in a surprise appearance in Huntsville, Alabama at the Propst Arena earlier this year on April 19th. Three Days Grace were out on tour with Shinedown part of the ‘Revolutions Live’ & ‘Explosions’ tour. Former My Darkest Days and current Three Days Grace frontman Matt Walst introduced Adam before they all collectively played “Never Too Late” and “Riot” together marking the first time Gontier performed with 3DG since December 15th, 2012.
Adam Gontier has been the frontman, rhythm guitarist and primary songwriter of Saint Asonia with Staind’s Mike Mushok since 2015. They just released the new duel EP Introvert/Extrovert a few months ago and is available everywhere now. I had a chance to interview Adam & Mike at Rock Allegiance in Chester, PA in 2015 with some of those pictures below as well.
