Meet Philadelphia’s own Strange Culture PA, MMR’s Local Shots Artist of the Month.
Based out of Quakertown Pennsylvania, Strange Culture PA is a fresh take on a four-piece melodic metalcore band. While taking inspiration from dark ambient sounds, the band produces both high energy and groovy tracks that leave the listener asking, “What is going to come next?”
The band was originally formed in 2022 and released its first track to the public in 2023. Feedback from fans reinforced the emotionally striking songwriting, leading to many singles being written and produced in the same unique tone. Strange Culture PA is constantly improving and growing with the aim to be heard by anyone and everyone who enjoys music.

Nicholas Schubert
With his commanding and strong voice, Nicholas takes on the role of lead vocals and keyboard player. Nicholas also acts as the band’s frontman, making every performance memorable.
Garrett Sylsberry
Utilizing a combination of intricate technique and tone control, Garrett plays lead guitar. His incredible playing fills out the music.
Nathan Mayer
Originally coming from a funk rock background, Nathan plays bass guitar and gives an entirely new meaning to “bass player.” His playing style is a refreshing new take on metal bass playing.
Noah Mair
Keeping perfect rhythm and playing with intense speed, Noah plays the drums. His role in the band is vital to keeping everyone together and fabricating the energy felt when listening in. In addition to his playing, Noah also takes on a vocals role for the band’s more aggressive songs.
