September is finally upon us, which means the MMR*B*Q is right around the corner! This year’s line-up is stacked and packed with eight fantastic bands. Shinedown, Billy Idol, Larkin Poe, Ayron Jones, Dirty Honey, Finger Eleven, Tigercub and MMR’s Local Shots opener Vixen77 will perform.
Not only is Vixen77 slated to open the MMR*B*Q, they are also MMR’s Local Shots Artist of the Month for September. Which means every Wednesday over the course of the month, I will feature a tune of theirs around 6:30pm live on WMMR.
The ladies of Vixen77 stopped by my show and the MMR studios to officially kick-off their month of awesomeness and world premiere their brand-new tune “Fast Lane.”
If you would like to join us at the MMR*B*Q next Saturday (9/16), I am hosting a Ticket Raid TONIGHT (9/7) at Club Risque in South Philadelphia with the MMaRmy from 8pm-10pm. We will be giving away pairs of actual tickets, not digital downloads or PDFs, every 15 minutes while we are there. Just mention WMMR at the door for free entry to the event.
Meet Philadelphia’s own Vixen77, MMR’s Local Shots Artist of the Month.
This band describes their music as “a bona fide punch in the face.”
Vixen77 is the creation of guitarist, Caitlin, who dreamt of playing in an all-lady rock band since high school. She had been playing the Philly punk scene for a few years when she decided to put her dream in motion.
In late 2018, Caitlin formed the five-piece all-women band. The name Vixen77 is a reference to woman energy and the musical influence of late-’70s punk.
In a few short months, they were opening for Cherie Currie of The Runaways. In March 2019, they began pre-producing and tracking for their full-length debut album.
Original members Caitlin, bassist Jaz, and guitarist Liz enlisted the services of Sarah Novack on drums and Samantha Joan on vocals.
The band, once again, went into the studio. They recorded their upcoming album Easy Access over the course of three days. Seventy-two hours later, they had twelve bangers ready to release into the world. They returned to the stage in January 2022. They’ve been playing to packed rooms around the Philly area as headliners since they’ve reemerged from the pandemic.
Rock ‘n’ Roll should be loud, aggressive, fun, and rebellious. That’s exactly what they look to bring to the world. Buckle up.
