Anya Taylor-Joy Rocks Out with Preston & Steve
“I really see my acting [career] as pre-Split and post-Split.”
Actress Anya Taylor-Joy revealed to us how M. Night Shyamalan completely changed her style of acting and expanded her range while filming Split here in Philadelphia. During the same movie, James McAvoy taught her about being present in the scene next to other extraordinary actors. All of these skills followed Anya to her most recent role, Jane Austen’s Emma, to life.
So what does a woman who admittedly doesn’t have a place to call “home” cherish most? Music. She sets up playlists to transform into each of her characters. Hall & Oates’ “Rich Girl” and Maid Marian’s Love from the Robin Hood movie were the go-to anthems for Emma.
That’s how we learned that Anya is infatuated with movie soundtracks and their eclectic collections of songs. And also how her career started with Mike Love pulling her on stage to show off her gnarly air guitaring skills. From a creepy tinted out car following her walking the dog to Hozier music videos, an unobtainable Almost Famous CD, and the Marvel Universe, this maze of stories will all make sense after you listen to this sensational interview:
Go see Emma when it hits theaters on March 6!
