Ke Huy Quan’s Emotional Golden Globe Speech Brings Pride to ‘Second Chances’
Ke Huy Quan was a prolific 80s child star, appearing in our favorite movies, namely, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and The Goonies. for a while, we didn’t hear anything from the actor. Last year, however, was his comeback tour and now it’s time to give him his flowers.
Last night at the Golden Globes, Quan won the award for Best Supporting Actor in a motion picture for his role in the A24 smash hit Everything Everywhere All at Once. In his speech, he excitedly thanked the man who gave him his start, Steven Spielberg, who was in attendance as well. He made sure to remind us all to not give up on our dreams.
After appearing in the fourth and fifth seasons of Head of the Class and the 1992 comedy Encino Man, Quan largely disappeared from the public eye. He struggled to find acting work, and transitioned to a life behind the camera as a stunt choreographer on films like X-Men and The One.
Nearly 20 years later, Everything Everywhere directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert enlisted Quan back to the screen to play Waymond Wang, the divorce-seeking laundromat-running Chinese-American immigrant, and his multiverse alter egos. He has seen amazing success from this role, including the award he won last night.

After struggling for so long, Ke Huy Quan is finally living his dream once again. Many of us have fears of never being able to achieve what we strive for, but there is no time limit on dreaming. Life is not linear, and it is never too late to go back to something you have always wanted to succeed at. Quan’s success continues, too; He’s already been cast to costar in the second season of Marvel’s Loki on Disney+.
Side note: Here is your reminder that Ke Huy Quan’s Everything Everywhere All at Once co-star Jamie Lee Curtis is an icon.
