Time to go llama shopping... Cheddar Wiz is the Mullet Champion of The World!
Cheddar Wiz, aka Rory, was a contestant in the Kids Division of the 2023 Mullet Championship. He is the 6yr old, West Pottstown native who has been making headlines across the Delaware Valley. The highlight of this whole adventure came from his interview on The Preston & Steve Show.
Phillies Sideline Reporter, Taryn Hatcher, commented on a photo posted to the show's account. She jokingly pointed out that the young Phillies fan should be repping her NBC Sports Philadelphia co-worker. "Blasphemous that this kid isn’t in a Kruk jersey with lettuce like that."
Within a couple of hours, Rory and his family were invited to the Phillies game and meet John Kruk. After the visit, we learned that Rory fully believes that he is best friends with Krukker now. We shared that message with John. He's totally on board with that friendship.
What's next for Rory?
According to the original plan that he shared with us, there were goals. Take his family to wing night at Little Oley Tavern and buy his sister a llama.
There is a charitable component too. A $6,635.81 donation made to Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors in honor of Rory's grandfather.
A large amount of donations are going to be made in fact. The second place competitor raised over $25,000 and seventh place collected over $20,000. If you recall, the donation totals were only a percentage of the rankings. The fan vote is was really sealed the deal. Cheddar Wiz had 16,723 of those thanks to all of you!
