[WATCH] Earthquake Shakes The Preston & Steve Studio in Philadelphia
4.8 magnitude earthquake was confirmed in New Jersey, we felt it live on air here at 93.3 WMMR / Philadelphia.

4.8 magnitude earthquake was confirmed 18 mi west of Plainfield, New Jersey. The earthquake happened at exactly 10:23am EST. Tremors were felt across the Delaware Valley and beyond.
We here at The Preston & Steve Show were in the middle of our daily Music News segment when the tremor hit. Right as Steve Morrison was launching into his iconic Gene Simmons parody, the studio equipment began to shake.
The vibe went from laughter to “hang on, did you feel that?” very quickly. Nick McIlwain was the first to call out what happened. It was odd, everyone felt it, but no one knew if it was an issue of concern just yet.
Immediate thoughts assumed that the shaking may have been caused by construction inside our six-story Bala Cynwyd office building. After years of renovations, we're used to hearing drilling a couple offices away or hammering shaking the wall. But this was different. It was a consistent shake for roughly twenty seconds. We never had that.
Then the messages flooded into the WMMR Text Line. Listeners were checking in from across the Delaware Valley and beyond. From West Chester, to Glassboro, Bethlehem to Long Beach Island, everyone felt the shake. It was a scary moment. But there is comfort in that fact that we were live on the air, talking to our MMR Family who was experiencing the same situation in far corners of the region.
We were able to talk to each other digitally, through text and social media and over the radio airwaves and on the always open MMR phone lines. Through the magic of radio, we were able to grasp exactly what was happening together.
Below is video of the moment that the quake hit and our conversation afterwards. Focus on the microphones at the beginning, you can clearly see the cameras shaking.

Pierre’s Playlist: Shakin’ with the Earthquake
Did you feel that rumble? So did we. Philadelphia and the surrounding areas experienced a 4.8 magnitude earthquake on Friday around 10:25am EST, and 6ABC reports that it was centered near Whitehouse Station, New Jersey.
Preston & Steve were live on the air at the time of the earthquake, and WMMR listeners from all over the area texted in to let us know that they felt it, too: from Cherry Hill to Doylestown and a few people streaming from as far north as Boston felt the tremors.

The details around the event are still developing, and we hope that wherever you are, you're safe and sound and didn't experience any damage from this quake. Pierre Robert, who arrived on the air shortly after it happened (and didn't even feel it, because he was driving on the highway at the time!) decided to have some musical fun and play a few songs to get you movin' and shakin' in his Friday sweat set on WMMR.
The last time that Philadephia experienced and earthquake of this magnitude was in August of 2011. It registered at 5.8 on the Richter Scale, and even though it stemmed from over 200 miles away Virginia, it did cause a bit of structural damage in our city.
