Sweet Moment Between Gorilla And Newborn At Columbus Zoo
You never know what to expect when you go to the zoo. One time, I even had a monkey throw a peach pit at me! It hit me, too! He had fantastic aim. Now, it’s a gorilla going viral for its sweet interaction with a newborn. It’s a really touching scene!
According to People, Hannah Pearson shared the video on TikTok and it now has more than 4.1 million views. In the video, you can see Pearson holding her 2-month-old baby, Noah, close to the glass of the gorilla exhibit at the popular Ohio zoo. First, the gorilla watches and observes the baby. Then, it starts making kissing gestures towards Noah as if it was attempting to kiss the baby through the glass! It’s crazy to see!
Pearson tells Storyful, “We have previously seen people interact with gorillas, kids specially. So we decided to sit next to the glass with our two-month-old to see the gorilla’s reaction,” per People. It looks like they chose the right seat! A commenter on the TikTok video identified the gorillas as Mo’ana, a Western Lowland gorilla. The video really goes to show how similar gorillas are to humans. You can almost see it thinking and understand what’s going through its head.
According to People, Western Lowland gorillas are usually quiet, peaceful, and non-aggressive animals. They can tolerate infant play behavior and are also affectionate with their young! That’s on display in this video and it’s awesome to see that side of gorillas on video. See the viral video shared on TikTok for yourself below!
Video Of Gorilla Interacting With Newborn At Columbus Zoo Goes Viral
This is so cool to see! You always hear about how gorillas are very similar to humans and how little DNA separate our species. Now, you get to see it first-hand and it’s unbelievable. Videos like this have gone viral before. It always makes me think it’s going to happen to me when I go to the zoo, but for some reason, it seems like all the animals are always sleeping when I visit. Maybe next time. Until then, at least we have videos we can watch of cool things happening to other people.
