CCEDC to Offer Microgrants Program for Small Business Mentoring, Professional Services
Small businesses seeking mentoring and professional services support in Chester County can now apply for up to $2,000 in funding through the Chester County Economic Development Council’s (CCEDC) New Business Champions program. Online applications for the CCEDC program began on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, and will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025. Businesses selected for the microgrants will gain access to some of the Chester County area’s top professional service advisors and mentors in fields such as accounting and HR.
To be eligible for consideration, business owners who apply must have established their businesses within the past five years, employ 10 or fewer staff, and operate within Chester County. Consideration will be given to socially and economically disadvantaged business owners. Past recipients of the New Business Champions microgrants program are not eligible.
To apply, CCEDC recommends business owners prepare comprehensive background information, including a description of their business products and services, how the business was created, areas that drive the business, and areas where the business could benefit from professional services. Small businesses may apply directly on the CCEDC’s website.
In a news release shared with citybiz, Mike Grigalonis, CCEDC’s president and chief operating officer, said, “This is the fifth round of funding for this valuable program that has already given 150 local business owners the boost they need to grow by providing access to critical professional services and mentorship.”
“Since launching CCEDC’s New Business Champions program three years ago, we have seen remarkable growth in the number of small businesses that have been able to successfully transition from the startup phase to profitability,” said Chris McHenry, CCEDC’s vice president of development finance.
The CCEDC notes that grant awards are subject to eligibility, funding availability, and a business needs assessment administered through the CCEDC Business Resource Center. The Chester County Workforce Development Board and the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry are funding this program.
