Longwood Gardens to Receive Direct Bus Lines from Philly, New York City
Getting to Longwood Gardens from Philadelphia and New York City will soon become easier. Later this month, new bus lines will debut, connecting the botanical gardens with these major East Coast cities.
OurBus, the intercity charter bus network, will offer routes to the gardens in Kennett Square beginning on March 29. The bus will operate on Saturdays and Sundays only before expanding to weekday service in the future.
According to a Philly Voice report, OurBus will have two routes out of Philadelphia that arrive at Longwood Gardens at 12:30 p.m. on weekends. One bus will leave from the Franklin Mall in Northeast Philadelphia at 11 a.m., and a second will leave from the intercity bus terminal outside Spring Garden Station in Northern Liberties at 11:35 a.m. Return trips to Philadelphia will depart from Longwood Gardens at 5:45 p.m.; round-trip bookings will cost $54.
The route leaving New York City will depart from Hudson Yards at 9:30 a.m. and arrive at 12:30 p.m. Return trips to New York will also leave from Longwood Gardens at 5:45 p.m. Round-trip bookings will cost $80.
The new bus routes are designed to increase access to Longwood Gardens for people without vehicles and who face limited public transportation options in Chester County.
The 1,100-acre attraction drew a record 1.6 million visitors last year. USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards recently named it the best botanical garden in the United States.
