Phillies End Celebration Tradition For New Season
Phillies Day Care has officially closed. If you’re looking for the famous tradition after the Phillies win this season, unfortunately, you’ll have to relive it on the internet.
Phillies Ending Long-Standing Tradition
Opening Day at Citizens Bank Park is finally here, and if you’re looking for the famous celebration where teammates throw cups of water on each other during their post-game interviews, you’ll have to relieve it from years past because it looks like it’s officially over.
During Bryson Stott’s interview after the Phillies beat the Washington Nationals on Saturday, it was clear that he kept looking over his shoulder, presumably thinking one of his teammates was about to throw water on him. Tom McCarthy, who was doing the interview, asked him, “Are you looking for someone to throw water on you?” Bryson responded with, “No, no, no. I told Marsh we need to grow up.”
This was a few days after the Bryce Harper interview where he said, “They aren’t in daycare anymore.” Assuming there were talks during the off-season that the majority of the team aren’t “kids” anymore and need to take this seriously so the Phillies can finally get that World Series Win they, and we, have been craving.
The “Daycare” Is Over
What is the “daycare” you ask? It’s the trio of Alec Bohm, Brandon Marsh, and Bryson Stott. Bryson did an interview with the Inquirer, and he said it was less about their age and more about their service time. Meaning, they were still new in the majors. It does seem like they have a new attitude and energy going into the 2025 season. Does that mean it will stick? Well, it is only opening weekend,d and there are 162 baseball games that need to be played just in the regular season, so who knows what can happen. Can’t imagine we won’t see some kind of water celebration at some point, though.
