Congratulations to the Cape May County Park & Zoo!

Out of 64 attractions scattered throughout the New Jersey coastline from Brigantine to Wildwood and 6 rounds of voting, the Cape May Zoon stands victorious! To celebrate the victory, Pierre Robert will broadcast live from the Cape May Zoo on Friday, July 19th from 10:30a – 3p.

Who did the Cape May Zoo beat out in this field of 64 bracket style competition? Some tough competitors. In round one they beat out Waverly Surf Beach. Next was The Ocean Drive, and then The Point in Somers Point.

In round four they knocked out Keenan’s in North Wildwood. Round five was a Cape May faceoff against the Cape May Lighthouse. And in the final round, Cape May Zoo topped Morey’s Piers!

Here are six things you may not know about MMR’s Jersey Shore 64 Champ:

  • The Cape May County Park is Over 200 Years Old!

Back in 1818, the country’s freeholders purchased this land and left it open for public use. It wasn’t until 1978 that the Cape May Zoo was built on one acre of the park. From the 1980’s to now, the zoo has expanded to 52 acres and added an African Savannah and many more exotic animal exhibits.

  • Afternoon Summer Concerts

Yes, the zoo is free year-round admission, but did you know there are free summer concerts in the park?! Bring your lawn chairs and listen to different bands on Friday and Saturday afternoons throughout the rest of July and August.

  • Private Guided Zoo Tours

Now they have private tours before the zoo opens! You can go with a group of friends and be guided through the park while learning about the animals and seeing the exclusive access spots.

  • Their Instagram Has Continuous Animal Facts and Event Posts

There are daily photos of the animals and their antics! Animal lovers will enjoy learning quick facts, celebrating zoo birthdays, and keeping up to date with fun events. Check out their Instagram @capemaycountyzoo

  • Baby Naming Contest

Whenever the zoo welcomes a baby critter, they need to find a name! Anyone can vote by choosing their favorite name that is posted on their website. These monetary donations benefit park upkeep.

  • July 19th Will Be Pierre’s First Time Going to the Cape May Zoo

As an animal lover himself, Pierre is thrilled to broadcast live at the zoo! It will be his first time checking out the park and all the exotic exhibits. And as Pierre stated on the Preston and Steve show, he “can’t wait to pet the cows.”
