ATLANTA, GA - MAY 01: Guitarist Warren Haynes rehearses at the 'Hampton 70: A Celebration Of Col. Bruce Hampton' at The Fox Theatre on May 1, 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Gov’t Mule is returning to Atlantic City this summer, and Pierre Robert is giving away tickets on his show all this week (3/13-3/17). The show is on sale now, and it’s got a unique theme.

With Pink Floyd celebrating 50 years of The Dark Side of the Moon this year, Gov’t Mule is bringing back their take on the iconic album, aptly titled Dark Side of the Mule. What began as a one-off tribute performance on Halloween in 2008 has become the stuff of legend. Gov’t Mule has performed this set only 10 times total, and now they’re bringing it back one last time with a live run that’ll kick off at the Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena. Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening will open the show.

  • Let’s flash you back to a different cover done by Gov’t Mule founder Warren Haynes. Pierre tells the story: “This gentleman is so talented… He came to pretty strong awareness on a larger level when Dicky Betts invited him to be in the Allman Brothers Band as the second guitarist, and eventually Dicky was to leave, and he would become the main focus there. He also played with members of the Dead when they reunited… He’s extraordinarily talented and an incredibly nice man.”

Pierre explains that Warren had visited our studios on Thanksgiving in 2010, and he performed the U2 song “One.” It was a delightful surprise, but because it was unexpected, it wasn’t mixed quite right. When Warren returned for an MMaRchive Session in June of 2013, Pierre was prepared: “I had never forgotten (that song)… I said, ‘You came in and did this song, and it didn’t come out quite right… Would you consider doing it again?’ and he said ‘Of course.’ The song is a cover from him, and an original song from U2. You might not expect Warren Haynes of Allman Brothers, Dead and Gov’t Fame to cover it, but he does so, and it’s hauntingly beautiful.”
