Day #4 of Shiprocked 2023 is here! Time to get off the boat again, this time in beautiful Grand Turk in Turks & Caicos. I spent half my time in the beautiful clear-blue waters of the ocean and the other half of the time in the huge pool with all of the bands and fellow Shiprockers.
Shiprocked Day #4 Lineup
Zero 9:36
After we go back on the boat and had some grub, it was time for more bands! Up first was Zero 9:36, a band formed right here in the Philadelphia area – Langhorne, B-B-B-Bucks Co. to be exact!
Lacey Sturm
Lacey Sturm (formally of Flyleaf) rocked the theater stage with her backing band, including her husband, Josh Sturm. Josh has filled in as a touring member of Shinedown on a few different occasions over the years. Lacey performed a Flyleaf hits-packed set, which made it hard for me to get a clear shot of her since she was always moving around like crazy! Lacey will be rejoining Flyleaf for the Bamboozle Festival in Atlantic City May 5th thru 7th 2023.
Islander
Up next, from Greenville, South Carolina – Islander! These guys brought a ton of energy to the very intimate Lounge stage on the boat. They even had a mosh pit with everyone lying on the ground (video coming soon)!
BRKN Love
BRKN Love was up next on the Ocean Plaza stage. This was one of my favorite stages to catch acts, because it was nice and cozy and no matter how far from the stage you were, you were still right up in it. WMMR played BRKN Love’s hit single ‘Like A Drug’ heavily when it first came out. After seeing these guys live, it is an absolute must that we get them back to play the Philly area for an MMR concert event!
Got to hang and chat with Justin & Nick in the casino after their set – cool dudes!
In Skully We Trust!
Skully, Shiprocked’s mascot was awesome… and everywhere! I think we need a Skully mascot here in Philadelphia! Maybe MMR’s new mascot??
Bones UK
Once again Bones UK brought the fire – this time to the main stage in front of a packed crowed! Playing hits off their debut album, brand new cuts from their forthcoming LP and incredible covers of Nine Inch Nails & Jeff Beck. Love this band!
Skillet
Skillet’s second performance of the trip was in the much smaller Theater. Fans were lining up well ahead of time for this hits-packed show.
Cookie!
A big shout out to the host-with-the-most, the cruise director of fun and games COOKIE! He was a huge part of what made the voyage so great!
The Messenger Birds
Up next, out of Detroit Rock City – The Messenger Birds. The guys channel their bluesy-rock brethren like the Black Keys and White Stripes with some Queens of the Stone Age vibes in there.
Parkway Drive
Winston and the boys of Parkway Drive laid waste to the main stage once again with their second and final performance on the cruise. They will be up in Sayreville, NJ at the Starland Ballroom with Memphis May Fire (another amazing band on this trip) next weekend for a sold out show.
