The 2019 Bite for the Fight Food Festival will be Philadelphia’s premiere culinary event. Our guests will be able to sample and vote for the Best Bite from over 20 of the best local restaurants in the Delaware Valley; while tasting local craft brews, fine wines, and cocktails served up by craft distilleries. It will be held on September 7, 2019 at the Kimberton Fairgrounds from 1-4. VIP access begins at noon.

About Our The Fight On Makenna Foundation Makenna was all about the color purple, scary movies, spicy food, and chocolate cake! She was the biggest and truest fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. Makenna believed in the power of laughter, the strength of family, and that one day there will be a cure for childhood cancer. Makenna fought through 9 months of chemo and radiation in 2014 after a diagnosis of a Wilm’s tumor. In 2015, approaching her 3rd year being cancer free, she developed Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Makenna fought through a long inpatient treatment plan ultimately receiving a bone marrow transplant from a perfect match, her older sister, Kayla. After spending 100 nights at CHOP Makenna and her family celebrated her homecoming on May 23rd, 2018. The next three months would be marked with many admissions to the ICU as Makenna’s intense treatments damaged her heart and lungs and she developed Pulmonary Hypertension. On September 27th, 2018 the world lost a daughter, sister, friend, granddaughter, niece, cousin, teammate and a remarkable human being. Through both cancer journeys, Makenna and her family did everything that was asked by her doctors and caregivers and never complained. Together, they never stopped fighting. Most significant is Makenna never stopped smiling or caring for others. She was an amazing young woman and those who had the privilege of knowing her are reminded of her strength, kindness, and are forever changed because of her. Our foundation is formed to carry on Makenna’s spirit, fighting with other families impacted by this devastating disease.
The Fight On Makenna Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life of pediatric cancer patients and their families during inpatient and outpatient treatments. We will accomplish our mission by funding programs and charity organizations designed to help children and families battle through the rigors of cancer treatments. Our goal is to bring Makenna’s fighting spirit to those children and families who need the support in their fight against pediatric cancer.
