Philly Loves Bowie Week

January 62023 - January 142023

CALLING ALL BOWIE FANS: Don’t Miss These Philly Loves Bowie Week Events

From January 6th to 14th, Philly will be celebrating the iconic rockstar and his connection to the city. The celebration pays tribute to the Starman with art, concerts, food specials and more.

The week encompasses both David Bowie’s birthday, January 8, 1947 and the date of his passing, January 10, 2016.

A portion of the proceeds from the week’s events — as well as auction items from a special pop-up art exhibit — help benefit cancer research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Here are few highlights (in date order, for your convenience) that caught our attention:

  • Pierre Robert's Bowie Workforce Block Kickoff

Join Pierre Friday at noon on 93.3 WMMR, for a celebration of Bowie songs and stories to kick off the week of festivities. (Word is that he’ll do a bonus block on Tuesday, 1/10).

  • Blue Blue Electric Blue!

Weckerly’s Ice Cream steeped pea flowers in their sweet cream base, which we learned is a completely natural way to make the ice cream Bowie blue. Cocoa Cookie Crumbles were added to create an out-of-this world blue Kook-ies & Cream center. A Thin White Sugar Cookie embraces the ice cream and is adorned with an iconic lightning bolt cutout that receives a pop of color as well as some homemade strawberry jam.

20% of proceeds benefit the Cancer Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

January 6th, 3pm – until sellout!  |  Weckerly’s Ice Cream, Fishtown location only

  • Let’s Dance! A Bowie Blitz Dance Party (21+)

Put on your red shoes, and dance the blues as DJ Robert Drake celebrates David loud and proud at this special dance party!   Partial proceeds from the door fee of $21 will benefit their cause in David Bowie’s memory.
