Manchester Concert Officials Issue Statement About Noel Gallagher’s Absence
Noel Gallagher is getting a little more love from the One Love Manchester world.
This time its organizers of Sunday’s (June 4) charity concert in response to recent terrorist attacks who are defending the former Oasis principal, who was attacked by his brother Liam Gallagher for not attending the show.
The younger Gallagher performed two Oasis songs, “Live Forever” and “Rock N’ Roll Star,” that night with Coldplay, and labeled his brother a “sad fuck” for not being there.
A spokesperson for the concert organizers has issued a statement saying that Gallagher, who was out of the country, was never booked to perform and that “Sunday’s concert was a huge success and we are all dismayed that there is negativity aimed towards Noel Gallagher. Neither Noel nor Oasis were never going to perform…Noel not only gave his blessing for us to use his song, but he also told us he was donating his royalties from ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ to the fund. Let’s keep the positivity please.”
The show, hosted by Ariana Grande and featuring Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Pharrell Williams, Marcus Mumford and others, raised a reported $13 million (and counting) for the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund and was broadcast in more than 50 countries and across a wide range of social media platforms.
