NJ Brewery Created a “Lime-Lighted” Lager in Honor of Neil Peart
RUSH fans everywhere continue to search for ways to grieve Neil’s passing, especially in a manner that is true to their own craft. Pierre and Preston took over the radio station on a Saturday afternoon playing deep cuts, sharing stories and opening up the phone lines.
Carton Brewery in Atlantic Highlands, NJ made a beer. A Lime-Lighted Canadian Lager.
It’s called “Pronounced Pier-T” and the description from the site is written with a lot of heart: We lost an inspiration. A poet. A man that turned tragedy into beauty. A man that relearned to play his instrument late in a career when he was already considered peerless because he knew it could be better than what was already the best. A man that did more on the bell of a single cymbal in one song than most people do on a five piece kit in a career. A man that was more than content to do his art his way, and was grateful for those that appreciated it, while neither needing or courting them. A genius that got it.
“Come in and buy it! We’re gonna charge way too much money for it,” brewer Augie Carton boasts in the video below, but for a phenomenal reason. A 4-pack will set you back $21.12, with all proceeds being donated to glioblastoma brain cancer research in Neil’s name.
If you find yourself in Monmouth County this weekend, pick up a 4 pack or two. And maybe one for Preston as well? He’s good for it. cartonbrewing.com
