Last time we talked to Daughtry was back in November, when he stopped by the Camp Out For Hunger to promote a show in Atlantic City. This past Friday, Chris and guitarist Brian Craddock stopped by the Preston & Steve studio to promote a new song and their show in Atlantic City that night with Breaking Benjamin.
They started off with a quick hello and then got right into rocking, because Chris wanted to make sure he wouldn’t lose his voice during the performance so early in the morning. The first song was their brand new song “Pieces”, which was released earlier that morning. They followed that up with their 2021 hit “Heavy Is The Crown”. Preston and Steve were blown away with how "un-freaking-real" Chris's voice is, especially so early after performing the night before.

After the two songs Chris and Brian chatted with Preston & Steve. They talked about Chris finding his voice and realizing he had something with it, the potential of being burnt out by his own music while creating it, and the car/headphone test with new music. They chat about rolling up like a baller in his tour bus, working out on the road in hotel gyms, and being star struck with celebrities.
Brian tells a great story of the time he met Don Henley at a Grammy's after party, where he might have "had a few wobbly pops."
He also expands on his time on American Idol and how it opened all the doors for his career but also hindered (in his mind) his credibility to rock radio in the start.
You can catch Daughtry on tour this summer supporting Breaking Benjamin and Staind, Creed and 3 Doors Down, or Bush and Our Lady of Peace. Closest stop to Philly is Saturday, June 1st at the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Grantville, PA (right outside Hershey). Tickets are available here.

A Look Back at Every Single MMR*B*Q Ever!
MMRBQ returns to Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on September 21, 2024.
The whole radio station turns up to eleven on the day of the MMRBQ. MMR is are set up outside of the pavilion welcoming music lovers into the venue. Our DJs are broadcasting live from the plaza with appearances from our favorite rock stars right before or after they hit the stage.
Brent Porche holds down the broadcast tent, Jacky Bam Bam rocks out on his Party Deck, Preston & Steve added a whole side stage and Pierre Robert wanders around every inch of the venue from the tip top to the edge of the stage.
MMRBQ lineups have something for everyone. We invite a menagerie bands that together remind you what MMR is all about: EVERYTHING THAT ROCKS!
Every year we meet people who have been to every single MMRBQ, and folks attending their first one ever. And the amount of people, young and old, who tell us that MMRBQ is their first concert ever warms our rock fueled souls.
The history of the show goes back to 2007. That's when the decision-makers at MMR decided to put on a concert with a bunch of our favorite bands and all our friends (you!). After that, it became an annual tradition to open up the summer concert season with our biggest party of the year! Just like any good party, it's gone through some changes over the year to keep it fresh. One year we opened and closed the concert season. Who remembers the giant light switch at the end of the second show? Of course we took off a season during the pandemic. And somewhere in there, the show moved from Spring to Fall.
