David Draiman on Being Booked for Final Black Sabbath Show
David Draiman is part of an absolutely stacked lineup for “Back to the Beginning,” the all-day concert that will feature the final performances from Ozzy Osbourne and the original Black Sabbath lineup.
The Disturbed frontman is listed on the bill under the “additional performances” section, which will see a number of the biggest names in rock collaborate on stage to honor Ozzy and Sabbath in their hometown of Birmingham, England.
In a recent appearance on Loudwire Nights, Draiman reflected on being part of this event and said he was “overwhelmed” by the situation.
“I look at the list of names, look at the bill and it’s truly shaping up to be one of the greatest heavy metal shows of all time,” said Draiman. “… I’m really looking forward to the whole experience myself as a fan.”
He added about Ozzy, “He’s like a father to me. He’s like a father to all of us. Without Ozzy, where would any of us be?”
As previously reported, the original Black Sabbath lineup of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward will reunite and headline an all-day concert taking place Saturday, July 5 in Villa Park, Birmingham. It will be the first time in 20 years that the original Sabbath lineup performs together.
In addition to Sabbath, other giants of the metal and hard rock world booked for the show include Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Alice in Chains, Halestorm, Lamb of God, Anthrax, Mastodon, and Rival Sons.
Also listed on the bill providing “additional performances” along with Draiman are Andrew Watt, Billy Corgan, Chad Smith, Dave Ellefson, Fred Durst, Lzzy Hale, Jake E Lee, Jonathan Davis, KK Downing, Mike Bordin, Papa V Perpetua, Rudy Sarzo, Sammy Hagar, Sleep Token ii, Tom Morello, Vernon Reid, Whitfield Crane, Wolfgang Van Halen, and Zakk Wylde.
