As the leaves begin to turn and a crisp chill fills the air, it’s time once again to embrace the magic of autumn. This year, I’m thrilled to share with you my carefully curated list of seasonal delights that capture the very essence of fall.

From cozy DIY workshops that’ll spark your creativity to family-friendly adventures that will create lasting memories, this year’s lineup has something for everyone. Get ready for enchanting Spooky Tea Parties, fun Halloween-themed events, and an abundance of fall fun that will warm your heart as the days grow cooler.

I’ve personally selected each activity on this list because they’re experiences I genuinely love sharing with my family and friends. My hope is that through these activities, you’ll discover new ways to savor this wonderful season and create your own cherished fall traditions.

  • Classes with Carrie B. - DIY Craft Heaven

    Elevate Your Connection to Nature with Classes by Carrie B. Drawing from her extensive experience in conservation education, Carrie B offers a wealth of nature-inspired workshops that blend creativity, learning and wonder. Two years ago, she founded Classes with Carrie B to share her passion for the natural world with the greater Philadelphia community.

    Carrie’s captivating classes invite participants to explore the beauty of the outdoors through artistic expression, empowering them to see the world with fresh eyes. Each workshop provides an opportunity to tap into the rhythms of nature and unleash your own creative potential. I’m highlighting four of her workshops, but make sure you check out her full schedule of classes.

    – Pumpkin Dried Flower Centerpiece Workshop – 9/26  Create your own gorgeous pumpkin centerpiece at the Pumpkin Centerpiece workshop on Thursday, September 26th at 7pm. Learn the art of arranging botanicals and flowers to make a seasonal work of art!

    – Pressed Flower Pumpkin Workshop – 10/3  Gorgeous, pressed flowers and botanicals will be used to decorate a white, craft or live pumpkin. You will have tons of flowers to choose from to make your own seasonal decor. Come solo or with friends and family!

    – Decoupaged Pumpkin Workshop – 10/4 Craft a stunning decoupaged pumpkin on October 4th. You’ll transform a plain pumpkin into a vibrant, one-of-a-kind work of art. With hundreds of napkin designs to choose from, you’ll learn the art of decoupage and unleash your creativity. By the end of the evening, you’ll have a stunning, personalized pumpkin to display.

    – Flower Resin Skull Workshop & Oracle Readings – 10/8  At the Flower Resin Skull workshop, on October 8th at 7pm, you’ll transform a plain skull form into a mesmerizing work of art. Unleash your creativity as you arrange a dazzling array of dried flowers, botanicals and realistic foliage within the resin. Throughout the class, enjoy complimentary oracle card readings in the adjacent library, inviting you to embrace the mystical energies of the season. This hands-on experience promises a thrilling and enriching addition to your fall festivities.   • PA Rail Bike

    Experience the beauty of the Pocono Mountains on a unique railbike adventure along the Lackawaxen River.   • The Board House Wife – Halloween charcuterie board

    The Board House Wife is hosting 2 hauntingly delicious Halloween workshops. The first workshop is at the Art In The Barn in Furlong, PA on October 24th at 7pm. The second workshop is at Coterie Commons in Doylestown, PA on October 30th at 7pm.

    Get ready to unleash your inner cheesemonger and craft an artful, ghoulishly good charcuterie board!

    Under the guidance of expert instructors, you’ll learn the tricks of the trade when it comes to properly cutting and displaying an array of creamy, crumbly, and savory cheeses. Weave your way through a graveyard of cured meats, pickled vegetables, and other festive accompaniments, arranging them with an eye for sinister style on a coffin-shaped palm leaf platter.

    As you layer your board with these devilish delights, prepare to be enchanted by a cheese education that will have you feeling like a wizard in the kitchen.   • The Highlands – Night of Jack O’Lanterns

    Experience a magical evening at The Highlands in Fort Washington during their annual Night of Jack O’Lanterns event, scheduled for October 27th from 6PM to 9 PM. This family-friendly celebration transforms the historic estate’s two-acre formal gardens into a whimsical wonderland illuminated by countless carved pumpkins.

    As you stroll through the enchanting grounds, sip on warm apple cider and pause at cozy fire pits to roast s’mores. The event offers a perfect blend of fall flavors and activities, including sweet treat vendors and adult beverages. Children and adults will delight in visiting the estate’s four charming resident goats: Pepe, Hoot, Max and Knox. This long-standing community favorite provides a gentle, non-scary alternative to typical Halloween events, making it ideal for families seeking a festive experience. All proceeds from this fundraiser support The Highlands’ educational programming, allowing visitors to enjoy a memorable evening while contributing to a worthy cause.

    The Highlands Mansion and Gardens is a 59-acre historic site with a late 18th-century Georgian mansion, two-acre formal gardens and walking trails. Surrounded by massive stone walls, the gardens offer a beautiful example of early 20th-century estate gardening with an unusual blend of horticulture and architecture. This grounds are open to the public from dawn to dusk daily, free of charge.

    The Halloween event is a fundraiser that helps support educational programming. Proceeds go to the newly established outdoor classroom and make it possible for them to offer transportation to inner city schools to visit The Highlands for field trips. Our field trips offer an historical tour of the mansion, a scavenger hunt in the gardens and a long trail walk with goats that live on the property!

  • Orange You Crafty – Spooky Sea Glass Halloween Trees

    Get ready to craft your way into the Halloween spirit with a bewitching twist on fall decor! At Pinspiration in East Greenwich, NJ, you’ll conjure up a “Spooky Sea Glass Halloween Tree” that’s sure to cast a spell on all who see it. A 9-inch tree shimmering with the eerie glow of orange, black, and purple sea glass, each piece catching the light like a magical gem. As you weave battery-operated lights through the branches, your creation will come to life, twinkling with ghostly charm.   • Woodstown Central Railroad – Fall Excursions

    All aboard for a journey into autumn’s heart! The Woodstown Central Railroad invites you to chug along through the golden landscapes of New Jersey on their enchanting Fall excursions.

    The popular Autumn Leaf Pumpkin Train is a magical 90-minute adventure that whisks you away on October weekends. As you roll through the countryside, vibrant foliage will dance past your window, setting the stage for a quintessential fall experience.

    Midway through your journey, the train whistles to a stop at the picturesque Fenwick Grove. Here, for 30 glorious minutes, you’ll step into a living postcard of autumn bliss. Wander through a pumpkin patch to find your perfect pumpkin, warm your hands with cups of freshly pressed cider, and indulge in the sweet comfort of donuts.

    As Fenwick Creek babbles nearby and crisp leaves crunch underfoot, you’ll find yourself immersed in a tapestry of seasonal delights. It’s more than just a train ride: it’s a ticket to the very essence of autumn, served with a side of nostalgia and a sprinkle of railroad magic. Don’t miss your chance to hop on board this unforgettable fall adventure!

    As the calendar turns to November, hop aboard the Fall Foliage Rambler. During the 2-hour ride, you’ll wind your way through Woodstown, Swedesboro and Salem, where the landscape transforms into a living canvas of crimson, gold, and amber.

    On September 28th, ride the meticulously restored 1930’s passenger train for a journey through scenic landscapes, breathtaking fall foliage and serene woodlands that define the region.  Your adventure doesn’t end at the station. Make sure you visit Woodstown’s renowned Fall Festival just minutes from the station. The event features an array of craft vendors, live music and a variety of food options.

    Whether you choose the early autumn charm or the peak foliage spectacle, these train rides promise to be more than just journeys – they’re gateways to the magic of fall in South Jersey. All aboard for memories that will last long after the leaves have fallen!

  • Talking Tea Cup – Halloween Tea Parties

    Step into a world of whimsy at Talking Tea Cup in Chalfont, PA, where Halloween meets high tea in a delightfully spooky soirée. This enchanting teahouse transforms with each fall event, serving up a visual feast of ever-changing, eerie décor.

    Patti, the mastermind behind this hauntingly cozy haven, invites guests to leave the mundane world behind for 90 magical minutes. Here, witches and warlocks can indulge in Halloween-themed treats – from ghostly scones to bat-wing sandwiches – all lovingly crafted from scratch.

    As you sip on specially brewed potions (teas), you’ll find yourself immersed in a wonderland where pumpkins might sprout legs and teacups whisper secrets. It’s not just a tea party; it’s a bewitching escape that will cast a spell on your fall activities list!

    – POE a cup of tea on Friday, the 4th at 11am, or Saturday, the 5th at 11am and 2pm. Enjoy an afternoon tea featuring scones, tea sandwiches and dessert, accompanied by one of Edgar Allan Poe’s short story.

    – Quoth the Raven, ‘Brunch is Served!’  Weave a tale of culinary enchantment with a special “Nevermore” brunch outing October 6th at 11am & 2pm.

    – Enjoy your witchy cocktails, spooky treat, witch fun, tarot reading, and the witches dance at the Witch Brew. The Talking Teacup supplies the mixers, but you bring the Boos! Dress as your best witch for a chance to win prizes. October 11th 6:30pm – 9:30pm and October 12th 6pm to 9pm.

    – Unleash Your Inner Witch at Potion and Plates Luncheon! Cast a spell on your taste buds on Saturday, October 12th at 11am with a magical 4 course menu. Sip on a special “potion”, perfect for stirring up a little witchy magic, and prepare for a visit from the “Teacup Witch”. Don’t forget dress the part! The best costume will win a special prize. For an extra dose of enchantment, add a tarot reading to your experience for just $15.

    – Unleash Your Inner Witch at the Bewitching Brunch! A spellbinding brunch on Sunday, October 13th from 11am to 1pm where you can enjoy a five-course meal crafted with a witchy twist. Come discover the magic of the menu as you see what the teacup witch brews up for you.

    In Sellersville, PA, Just One More Plant transforms autumn into a botanical adventure. This family-owned gem offers fall workshops that blend gardening with Halloween flair. You can craft spooky dried floral cauldrons and witches brooms, or delve into the creepy side of things with the carnivorous coffin planters. And one of my absolute favorites: is the succulent pumpkins! There are a number of date options for their most popular succulent pumpkins workshops. These classes promise a unique blend of creativity and seasonal charm, perfect for Fall and Halloween lovers. At Just One More Plant, fall isn’t just observed – it’s cultivated, one enchanting creation at a time!

    The Haunted Hustle 5K Run/Walk Join the spooky fun at the Haunted Hustle 5K through historic Newtown Borough, PA! Starting at 30 N Chancellor Street, this Halloween-themed race invites participants to don their best costumes. All finishers receive a medal and event T-shirt, with prizes for top runners and best costumes. Enjoy a festive atmosphere with a DJ, and for those 21+, an afterparty at Second Sin Brewery. This rain-or-shine event supports the NR2F1 Foundation, dedicated to helping those with a rare genetic disorder. Get moving for a great cause!

    BooPort In October, the Borough of Bridgeport transforms into “BooPort,” a town that truly embraces the Halloween spirit. The towering 20-foot skeletons and giant spiders creeping across row home rooftops, create a spooky atmosphere that lasts all month long. On Halloween night, the streets come alive with hundreds of trick-or-treaters. The month-long celebration includes a variety of events, from a lively Halloween parade to themed parties, costume contests, and the highly anticipated return of the Bridgeport Elks Lodge Haunted House.
