Booze Shortage Causing PA Stores to Enforce 2-Bottle Limit
Have you noticed lately that the shelf space for your favorite booze is completely empty? It’s actually a nationwide dilemma and PA state run liquor stores have been forced to ration the supplies.
Beginning Friday, September 17th, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board is instituting a two-bottle-per-day purchase limit of 43 different liquor products. This action is a response to supply shortages beyond their control.
According to NYDailyNews.com, the mandate includes select tequilas by Don Julio, bourbons from Buffalo Trace, some Jack Daniel’s whiskeys and champagnes from Dom Pérignon, Veuve Clicquot and Moët & Chandon.
The restriction is not solely for shoppers. Bars, restaurants and other license holders have to abide by the rules as well.
PLCB spokesman Shawn Kelly pointed out in a statement shared by the Associated Press, “if you take a look at stories that have come out from around the country because of COVID-19, supply chains have been disrupted, production has been disrupted.”
“In some cases there have been shortages of cans and bottles.” At this time there are no details as to how long the restrictions will last.
