I will be co-hosting the West Chester Parade with 6ABC’s Adam Joseph on Friday, December 1st. At 6:30pm, the ceremonial Christmas tree lighting will take place outside of the historic courthouse building at the corner of Market and High Streets in downtown West Chester.
The parade starts at 7pm. It will feature West Chester University’s Marching Band and just under 1600 people marching in bands, dance teams and cheer squads.
The starting point is Market Street at New Street. The parade then heads east toward Matlack Street and completes its one-mile loop heading west on Gay Street through the heart of West Chester’s historic district. Five parking garages/lots are available to parade goers. Free parking is available at 5pm at Justice Center Garage at 220 West Market Street. Chestnut Street Garage at 14 East Chestnut Street, Bicentennial Garage at 20 South High Street, Public Lot 07 at 100 West Chestnut Street and Public Lot 10 at 50 West Chestnut Street will have a $20 flat rate from 5pm to 8pm.
You’re invited to celebrate!
“This is one of the only holiday events of this caliber that you’ll enjoy for free with your family this holiday season, and believe me, we put on a first-class show for our visitors to West Chester,” said Katie Walker, President of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the parade as the marquee event of Chester County Hospital Lights Up Holiday Weekends in West Chester.
It’s all part of six weekends of holiday festivities amidst thousands of lights, from Thanksgiving through New Year’s, during Chester County Hospital Lights Up Holiday Weekends in West Chester. Sip, shop and dine in downtown West Chester every weekend throughout the holiday season! There’s something different all month, including free outdoor holiday concerts, free photos with Santa, a professional gingerbread house competition, specials at shops and businesses and more.
