The winning ticket, purchased online through the courier Jackpocket, is being scrutinized by lawmakers concerned about the legality of third-party services. “Rent-a-Grandma,” is a business offering domestic staffing services like nannying and in-home care. The man accused of hiding stolen ‘Wizard of Oz’ ruby slippers died ahead of his court hearing. We will come back with some other stuff.
Preston’s Mystery Gift (01:55:30) Preston got an envelope from a listener, and inside was a plastic baggy with a mysterious white powder in it. The gang tries to figure out what the white powder actually is…
Jim Florentine on Zoom (02:27:55) Jim Florentine joins Zoom, admitting how much he dislikes all the tech stuff and just wishes he could focus on writing for his comedy shows. He humorously shares his own early voice struggles, recalling how his deep voice in high school led to laughs and even helped him get his friends out of school. On the topic of voiceovers, Jim hasn’t pursued it much lately, but would love to get back into it – if the opportunity presented itself.
Alex Lifeson on Zoom (02:36:38) Alex Lifeson has been blessed working with Maiah Wynne in “Envy of None”, as her personal growth has led to writing powerful and personal songs. The four-piece band collaborates on mixing and producing, and they’ve evolved their sound much like Rush did, with solo work benefiting the group. To Alex, “Envy of None’s” second album feels rejuvenating, and Preston encouraged him to focus on writing a book about his backstage stories, as his wife has been urging him to do.
Adam Ray on Zoom (02:56:26) Adam Ray talks about his shows this weekend, with the late show still available despite all others selling out and humorously improves on-air with his Uber driver. He shares stories about his career journey, including a sold-out show in Chicago, working on old-school comedy skills, and enjoying his YouTube channel, while also mentioning memorable encounters with Chevy Chase and Larry King.
