Mötley Crüe hit the Hard Rock Live stage at the Etess Arena this past Friday night (02.10.23) to kick-off their 2023 World Tour with Def Leppard. These AC shows, dubbed “The Up Close & Personal Tour”, are part of a much bigger tour that will be hitting Mexico, South America and most of Europe throughout 2023. The 7000, or so, capacity inside the Etess Arena is much more intimate than the 40k-60k+ fans they were accustomed to playing in front of only a few short months ago. This show was a significant one due to the fact of it being John 5‘s first official show since replacing Crüe guitarist and co-founder Mick Mars late last year. We all know John 5 from Marilyn Manson’s band and more recently Rob Zombie’s, up until his departure in October of 2022. He’s an extremely talented guitarist with a great stage presence and, so far, fits in with Vince, Nikki & Tommy seamlessly, while playing Mick’s parts pretty true to the originals – with some “John 5 flare” in there too.
It was a hits-packed set pretty much identical to the Stadium Show at Pierre’s Good Citizen’s Park last summer.
