5 Things To Know: Sleep Theory Live in the WMMR Studios

Preston & Steve's Concert Corner is set. The mics are ready. The amps are turned way up. Now we just wait for the first band of 2024 to arrive on Tuesday morning.

Sleep Theory is set to be the first live musical performance in the MMR Studios this year.

This Memphis-based band found their breakout hit in January of 2023. Within 36 hours of its release on TikTok, the band's debut single, "Another Way" hit half a million views. The trolls appeared with crazy theories to doubt the instant success, but the band just knew that they had something big.

Vocalist Cullen Moore started the Sleep Theory back in 2019. The current incarnation of his musical journey began as a solo studio project to fuse his love of hard rock, funk and R&B.

Then came a chance meeting with bassist Paolo Vergara, followed by the addition of drummer Ben Pruitt and guitarist Daniel Pruitt. From solo project, to duo and now a hard-rocking quartet, this band is out for success. Their second track “Numb” has cracked the Top 40 on the Active Rock chart. The band signed to Epitaph Records and shot right to opening amphitheaters for Shinedown.

Cullen and Paolo enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and kayaking. They make time on their cross country tours to take in beaches, National Parks and other bucket list spots.

Paolo was part of the 2022 FIL-AMemphis (Filipino American community in Memphis and the Mid-South) Liga ng Pinoy Basketball Tournament Championship team.

These days, Ben Pruitt plays SJC Custom Drums. The same brand that Tré Cool from Green Day, Brenden Steineckert from Rancid, Odko from The Hu and Jay Weinberg are famous for endorsing. But just a few years ago, Ben was a Marching Patriot Band for Lewisburg High School in Olive Branch, Mississippi.

Growing up, Cullen Moore was certain that he would not join the military like his father. Until he did. The lead vocalist joined the US Army. He has since retired and dedicated his entire life to carving his own path in the music industry.

Guitarist, Daniel Pruitt, became a dad in 2022. Uncle Dan is super proud.
