Preston & Steve’s Camp Out For Hunger

Yo! Youse see what Presbo & Steves did?

Forget American Ninja Warrior. Forget Wipeout. On the third day of Camp Out For Hunger 2023, the world was graced with a new obstacle course to rule them all: Preston & Steve’s Jawnstacle Course. And oh, was it a doozy.

Three courageous contestants braved the treacherous course.  The course was made up of five stages that required contestants to complete a task and grab a Philly-themed item to carry with them to the next obstacle. The one to cross the finish line with all five items the fastest would be crowned champion. Our very own Nick McIlwain provided play-by-play live commentary.

Our friends, Delco Jawnskis, created the perfect tshirts to set the mood.

  • Santa's Gotta Go

The first thing standing in our contestants’ way was Santa Claus – or more accurately, Bill Weston in a Santa Claus suit. Our brave athletes had to pelt him with six Hostess coconut snowballs before they were able to claim their ticket to the next obstacle, a Philly Soft Pretzel

  • That's My Spot

After defeating Santa Claus, our contestants had to save themselves a parking spot. They had to quickly clear “snow” from the spot using a snow shovel then set up a lawn chair before they could grab their next item, a bag of sour cream and onion Herr’s chips.

  • Yo, Adrianne!

To tackle the next obstacle, the Rocky Steps, our contestants needed some protein. They each had to crack five eggs into a Dunkin tumbler before scaling the stairs leading up to the Can Drop. The prize for their efforts was a peanut butter Kandy Kake to add to their bags (Disclaimer: No raw eggs were eaten on the Jawnstacle Course!).

  • 4th & 1

Next, our contestants had to perform the iconic Eagles Tush Push play. At the bottom of the Can Drop stairs, they were met by a suited-up Casey Boy in full linebacker attire. Their goal was to push his tush around two cones without knocking him off of his scooter board or dropping any of their items. If they succeeded and remembered to grab the scrapple, then it was on to the final obstacle.

  • On the Road to Victory

In classic Philadelphia fashion, our contestants had to climb a greased pole to finish out the course. Perched atop the pole was the fifth and final item, perhaps the most Philly of them all: a Geno’s cheesesteak. With their bags full of food, our contestants could finally cross the finish line to victory.

  • To the victor belong the scrapple

All three contestants gave it their best shot, but in the end only one could come out on top. To see the competition’s riveting conclusion, check out our coverage of Camp Out day #3 on YouTube:
