LOS ANGELES, CA - FEBRUARY 12: (L-R) Paul McCartney and Dave Grohl perform onstage at the 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards held at Staples Center on February 12, 2012 in Los Angeles, California.

A slew of stars — including Paul McCartney, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, Aretha Franklin, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, U2, Sting, Bruno Mars, Celine Dion, Ed Sheeran, Keith Urban, Christina Aguilera and more — will be part of Grammy’s Greatest Stories: A 60th Anniversary Special set to air at 9 p.m. EST on November 24 on CBS.

The show, according to the announcement, “will highlight some of the most memorable Grammy Moments from the last five decades of Music’s Biggest Night and take viewers behind the scenes to reveal unknown facts about the remarkable performances, with ” feature archival footage as well as new interviews with the artists, all talking about their Grammy experiences and performances.

The show will include reactions to Whitney Houston’s death the night before the 2012 Grammys as well as Franklin’s surprise opera performance at the 40th Annual Grammy Awards show and more.

In a statement Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow promises that, “This special will take audiences on a new journey as they relive those extraordinary moments that can only be seen on the Grammys.”

The special comes in the wake of this year’s Stayin’ Alive: A Grammy Salute To The Music Of The Bee Gees as well as previous shows dedicated to the Beatles, Stevie Wonder and Frank Sinatra. It’s helmed by longtime Grammy executive producer Ken Ehrlich.

Gary Graff is an award-winning music journalist who not only covers music but has written books on Bob Seger, Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen.
