Entertainment Roundup

Let me tell you something, brother! This new Hulk Hogan biopic sounded like an interesting project at first, but there’s a very good chance Hulkamanics won’t be “running wild” on Netflix upon its release.

The Hollywood Reporter has an exclusive story saying that Chris Hemsworth has been cast as the Hulkster in a deal about to close with Netflix. Hogan will be part of the project as a consultant. Todd Phillips and Scott Silver, who directed and wrote the upcoming DC Comics film The Joker, will be serving as director and co-writer, respectively. John Pollono is serving as a co-writer with Silver.

Also receiving a producer credit? Hemsworth…and ERIC BISCHOFF!

While the thought of The Bisch being involved in the film was immediately intriguing, the film won’t tackle any of the juicier aspects of Hogan’s life, from backstage politicking to his infamous sex tape scandal and subsequent lawsuit with Gawker. Per THR:

The biopic will not delve into those years or attempt to encompass Hogan’s entire life. Instead, sources say it will focus on his rise and is described as an origin story of the Hulkster and Hulkamania.”

Some of the most interesting things about Hogan are the things that happened once Hulkamania became a reality.

All of the burying of talent to keep in the main event picture. Everything that went down during WrestleMania IX. Hulk leaving the then WWF for WCW. Joining/forming the NWO with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. His insane 1998 WCW contract

The list could go on and on, and I haven’t even got to where he returned to the WWF in 2002!

If this film only covers “the origin story of the Hulkster and Hulkamania,” it’s going to take a lot more than vitamins and prayers to interest marks the world over.
