Jacky Bam Bam speaks with Christian “Tooch” Martucci
Jacky Bam Bam spoke with Corey Taylor Guitarist Christian “Tooch” Martucci this past Monday night while doing Smash and Trash.
They both grew up listening to WMMR. Philly is home for Martucci.
Corey Taylor recently did 5 side shows before the tour starts in August. There is no date yet for a Philadelphia gig, but it is coming.
The song “Beyond” was written back when in Stone Sour (and the skeleton of the song perhaps before that), but never made it to an album. Martucci says his guitar parts don’t really follow with what everyone else is doing. All 5 members were in the studio together for the album. They added the vocals later. The album is very live and real. Jacky asks about writing with Corey Taylor and Martucci says when they write together Taylor is very creative with a lot of different personalities musically.
The video for “Beyond” was shot in an abandoned waterpark somewhere between Los Vegas and LA. They brought in some circus performers and a bunch of fans. They played a set while filming.
Parting words include Martucci missing our food and beer in Philly and our no nonsense attitude. His whole family is still in Philly. Hey sister Wendy!
Bam Bam and Martucci used to play in the Dogtown Balladeers together. Martucci also played in Stone Sour, Black Star Riders and Dee Dee Ramone. He is a founding member of Thousand Watt Stare, Black President, the Strychnine Babies and the Chelsea Smiles.
