Flashback: AIDS Fund Names Preston & Steve “Favorite Straight People” of the Year”
Pride Month is upon us, so let’s relive the moment the Preston & Steve Show were named “Favorite Straight Person of the Year” at the 16th annual GayBINGO.
GayBINGO is a fabulous monthly event that has been entertaining Philadelphia audiences for 26 years. They help raise emergency funds for those living with HIV. With a different theme each month, hundreds of people come for a night of good old-fashioned Bingo…with a decidedly different twist.
The “Favorite Straight Person of the Year” award is given to individuals that have made a significant contribution to the LGBTQ+ community. The Preston & Steve morning show doesn’t just give listeners their first laugh of the day during their morning commutes. The show has a rich history of community service in the Philadelphia area. They have raised awareness for the AIDS Fund at the AIDS Walk Philly. They continue to organize their annual Campout for Hunger event and created the “I bleed for Preston & Steve” blood drive.
Preston attended his first AIDS Walk in 1997. he was so impressed with the outpouring of support and community that it was a very simple decision to lend a hand. Steve and him (and the rest of the gang) use the platform of the show to help spread the word about community events and charities that are close to our hearts. Philanthropy and community service have been abundantly important to the gang since the start.
On that day in 2015, the gang were all dolled up, each sporting a different color of the rainbow. They arguably could have also snagged a “Best Dressed” award for the day.
This Saturday, June 10th is another GayBINGO event. The event is perfect for Pride Month and of course all fun for a great cause, as you know. This is the last of the season, so don’t miss it!
