The poster child more nepotism in the NF, Chris Simms, is running his mouth off again. For a few years now he has consistently been the biggest Jalen Hurts hater out there. He tried to say Daniel Jones is a better player. He openly advocated for players to try and intentionally injure Jalen Hurts. Now Phil Simms' far less talented son, both on the field and in front of a camera, recently said Jalen Hurts is the most overrated player in the NFL.

Did Jalen Hurts regress a bit in 2023? Sure. But even with that regression, he was still a top-10 QB. And that is with his coach doing very little to help him out. Hurts more than any other QB was asked to throw the ball into tight windows. Despite having two elite WRS, it was rare that Hurts got to throw to wide-open guys because the Eagles' scheme was broken. Sirianni refused to adapt to the times and use motion. Even though every elite offense uses motion at a high rate.

Sirianni also did nothing to help Jalen Hurts beat the blitz. There were no hot routes, no dump-offs. Hurts pretty much had to scramble any time they blitzed. But since the Eagles never had guys open to dump it off to on that side of the field, Hurts often had to throw it away, or force something.

Phil Simm's son will tell you that Hurts is the benefactor of a great team around him. Hurts does have great weapons and a great O-Line. But I don't see him calling Brock Purdy a product of his team. Earlier in the season, Simms went on a podcast and pushed back against those claims against Purdy. So why for him is Jalen Hurts a product of his team, but Purdy isn't? Suspicious. And Purdy has the bonus of being in a great offensive system that makes things easier for him. Something Hurts did not get the benefit of.

Chris Simms is somehow worse at being an analyst than he was at being a QB. Which is saying something. He continues to take shots at Hurts for whatever reason. Maybe he just knows it will get him attention. But like with every other thing he has said about Hurts, it just has no merit. And honestly, after he said he wants teams to take shots at Jalen Hurts head, why does the guy still even have a platform to continue discussing the NFL?
