Kings of Leon Announce New Album, Philadelphia Show
It’s a new era for Kings of Leon. The Followill family band have signed to a new label, and with that comes the announcement of a new album and an extensive run of live shows.
Can We Please Have Fun, the group’s ninth studio effort, will be out on May 10th on Capitol Records, stepping away from longtime label RCA for the first time in their career. It was produced by Kid Harpooon, who’s on a hot streak working with megastars like Harry Styles and Miley Cyrus. His dreamy pop sheen blends with the band’s signature guitars on the new single “Mustang,” which you can hear in the official video below.
An official press release from Capital says that “the album sees a new side of Kings of Leon… the band harkens back to their gritty origins while simultaneously finding new gears. It’s the sound of a band unified in vision and purpose, freed from any expectations, and the album the band says they’ve always wanted to make.”
The band will flex the new music across North America later this year on a lengthy tour. That includes a stop here in Philadelphia at the TD Pavilion at the Mann on Monday, September 23rd. Phantogram will open the show. Tickets go on sale on this Friday 3/1 at 10am, and MMR VIPs have a chance to win them before you can buy them on our Contest page. Preston and Steve will have tickets to give away every morning next week (2/26-3/1) so tell your smart speaker to “Open MMR” when you rise and shine.
