This Pop Star Sang with P.O.D. Before Making It Big
P.O.D. just released their eleventh studio album Veritas, and they’ll be bringing the new tracks and their hits to MMRBQ 2024 this fall. The band have collaborated with acts across all genres since they formed in San Diego in 1992. However, there’s one curious collab that you might not know about.
P.O.D. Recruited This Pop Star To Sing With Them
Bassist Traa Daniels tells Louder Sound that they crossed paths with Katy Perry during the recording sessions for their 2006 LP Testify. She was recording with the same producer they were, Glen Ballard.
Traa says the band needed a female voice for a track called “Goodbye for Now.” He explains, “Katy was young back then and we spent a lot of time hanging out with her. She came in and did that song with us and we did the video. Then she got big!”
Yes, it’s true, a pre-fame Katy Perry was featured in the song and the video. Catch a glimpse of her towards the end of this clip:
See P.O.D. Live at MMRBQ 2024
The band are part of the stacked lineup we’re welcoming to the MMRBQ stage on Saturday, September 21st. They’ll join the Offspring, Halestorm, Nothing More, The Warning and more for an all-day party spanning two stages, complete with DJ sets, live band karaoke, and the WMMR gang broadcasting live all day.
