Pearl Jam Working on New Album
While details are vague at best, Pearl Jam fans will be thrilled to know the band is working on a new album, a follow up to 2013’s Lightning Bolt.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Jeff Ament said, “We’re going to make a record, and we’re in the middle of it. We’re just going to keep plugging away until we get one done. We’ve gone in, probably, four or five times in the last couple of years, so we have a whole ton of unfinished stuff. We’re just sort of in a little bit of limbo. I’m sure everybody’s got a bunch more riffs, and I’m sure Ed’s got a handful of journal lyrics. It’s just going to take us all getting into a room together for six weeks and just knocking something out.”
As for why it has taken a while to get the band together, Ament mentions that the death of Chris Cornell did hit the band particularly hard saying, “I think when Chris passed, that’s really been a tough one to wrap our heads around, and then there’s just life stuff.
Pearl Jam did release the single “Can’t Deny Me” in 2018, which Ament referred to as “…a little bit of a star from one of the ones that we had recorded.“
Currently, Pearl Jam has no tour dates scheduled for 2019, but Eddie Vedder has a solo set taking place March 3 at the Innings Festival in Tempe, Ariz. Hopefully, the downtime from the road will be spent at the recording studio.
